Wine Cabinet
This piece was a custom design for a local cabinet shop who wanted to expand their repertoire while staying within their basic construction methods. The result is a simple cabinet with doors that think outside of the box – instead of frames the doors are solid wood shapes that support pieces of glass. The shape of the doors is an obvious reference to wine glasses, expressing playfully the cabinet’s intended use. Where the doors meet they are relieved in a gentle curve to act as a finger pull. Functionally, the upper shelves behind the glass display wine glasses while the bottom allows for storage of wine bottles. In the center is a lacewood front drawer for bottle openers and coasters.
